From Church Slavonic Рꙋсиа (Rusia) (since 13th c.), from Byzantine Greek Ῥωσία (Rhōsía) (since 10th c.), whence also Greek Ρωσία (Rosía), from Ῥῶς (Rhôs), from the same source as Old East Slavic Русь (Rusĭ).
