Etymology

From *yašurun (hidden, concealed, secret), an instrumental case form[1] from an earlier *yašuru (hidden, concealed) (as testified in Old Uyghur [script needed] (jašru), [script needed] (jašuru, hidden, secret, concealed)[2], from *yašïr- (to hide sth.), from Proto-Turkic *yaĺ- (to hide).

Cognate with Kazakh жасырын (jasyryn), Uzbek yashirin, Uyghur يوشۇرۇن (yoshurun), Turkmen ýaşyryn (hidden, concealed, secret).
