From Common Turkic *ked- (to put on)[1].

Cognate with Tatar кию (kiyu), Crimean Tatar kiymek, Kyrgyz кийүү (kiyüü), Uzbek kiymoq, Uyghur كىيمەك (kiymek), Turkish giymek, Azerbaijani geymək, etc.
