мъск

Bulgarian

Etymology

From Proto-Slavic *mъskъ, probably of Paleo-Balkan descent, akin to Albanian mushk (mule), Aromanian mușcă (mule), Latin mūlus (mule) (<*muslos), Ancient Greek μυχλός (mukhlós, stallion). Further origin is unclear. Meyer hypothesizes a possible relation to the ethnonym of the ancient people Mysoi and/or Muški.
