  1. to cut, shear, haircut
  2. (reflexive) to tonsure, to became a monk
    • from the Homily against the Bogumils, 1987-1991:
      и не по законоу остризаѭще сѧ отъходѧтъ въ иѥроусалимъ, инии же въ римъ и въ прочѧѩ градꙑ, и тако помѧтъше сѧ възвращаѭтъ сѧ въ домꙑ своѩ
