Etymology
From пали́ти (palíti, “to burn”) + -е- (-e-) + -ница (-nicʲa).[1][2] Cognate with dialectal and archaic Russian палени́ца (paleníca), пеляни́ца (peljaníca), пелени́ца (peleníca).[3]
