A regional, West Kypchak term. No cognates found elsewhere. Relation to *sakɨŕ (“gum, resin”) is unclear.

Cognate with Tatar чәер (çäyer, “pitch, resin”), Bashkir сайыр (sayïr, “pitch, resin”), Nogai шайыр (şayır, “pitch, resin”), Kyrgyz чайыр (çayır, “pitch, resin”), Karachay-Balkar чайыр (čayïr, “pitch, resin, gum”), etc.
