From Proto-Turkic *sat- (“to sell”)[1].

Cognate with Kazakh сату (satw, “to sell”), Kyrgyz сатуу (satuu, “to sell”), Khakas садарға (sadarğa, “to sell”), Turkish satmak (“to sell”), Tuvan садар (sadar, “to sell”), Uzbek sotmoq (“to sell”), Yakut атыы (atıı, “commerce, trade”).

    Ul bik qimmätle matur ïnyï tapqas, qaytïp bar mölkäten hatqan da, šul ïnyïnï alğan.
    When he found a very valuable, beautiful pearl, (he) went home, sold all his belongings and bought that pearl.
