1. (with dative) according to

   Synonyms: համաձայն (hamajayn), համեմատ (hamemat)

   ըստ ամենայնի ― əst amenayni ― in every way

   ըստ իս ― əst is ― in my opinion

   ըստ այսմ, այդմ, այնմ ― əst aysm, aydm, aynm ― according to/with respect to this/that; therefore, so

   ըստ երևույթին ― əst erewuytʿin ― it seems, in all likelihood

   Հյուրերը նստեցին ըստ տարիքի։ ― Hyurerə nstecʿin əst tarikʿi. ― The guests were seated by age.

Followed by a word in the dative case, usually without a definite article. Old Armenian forms are preserved in certain set phrases such as ըստ իս (əst is), ըստ այդմ (əst aydm), ըստ արժանվույն (əst aržanvuyn), etc.
