Etymology
From ծին (cin, “birth”) + բեկանեմ (bekanem, “to break”), because the asparagus sprout is eaten very early, as soon as it is born.[1] For the sense development compare Ancient Greek ἀσπάραγος (aspáragos, “asparagus; young shoots”).
