שוכנע \ שֻׁכְנַע • (shukhná) (pu'al construction)

1. To be convinced or persuaded (by someone or something); passive of שכנע‎ (shikhnéa)

   לאחר ויכוחים רבים, שוכנע חברי לבוא אתי לקולנוע.‎

   l'akhar vikukhim rabim, shukhna khaveri lavo iti lakolnoa.

   After many arguments, my friend was convinced to come with me to the movies.

• This verb, which is strictly passive, emphasizes the existence of a person or thing doing the convincing. The related verb הִשְׁתַּכְנֵעַ‎ (hishtakhnéa, “become convinced”) does not.
