Borrowed from Classical Persian الله‎ (allāh), from Arabic اللّٰه‎ (allāh). First attested as Old Punjabi ਅਲਹੁ (alahu /allahu/). Compare Hindustani اَللہ‎ / अल्लाह (allāh), Bengali আল্লাহ (allah), Malayalam അല്ലാഹു (allāhu).
