Relative adjective (nisba) composed of حُقُوق (ḥuqūq, law, jurisprudence) + ـِيّ (-iyy). The word حُقُوق (ḥuqūq) is the plural of حَقّ (ḥaqq, right), from the root ح ق ق (ḥ-q-q).
