From Middle Persian 𐫖𐫏𐫗𐫇𐫃 (mynwg /mēnōg/, “heaven, paradise; *emerald; *glass”), from Avestan 𐬨𐬀𐬌𐬥𐬌𐬌𐬎 (mainiiu, “spirit”). Doublet of مینا (minâ) from the Middle Persian’s Arabic descendant.
