  1. to loathe; to resent
    • 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 7:126:
      تَنْقِمُ مِنَّا إِلَّا أَنْ آمَنَّا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّنَا لَمَّا جَاءَتْنَا
      tanqimu minnā ʾillā ʾan ʾāmannā biʾāyāti rabbinā lammā jāʾatnā
      You resent nothing from us but that we believed the signs of our Lord when they came forth before us!
