Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀙𑀼𑀝𑁆𑀝𑀤𑀺 (*chuṭṭadi), from Sanskrit *क्षुट्यते (kṣuṭyate)[1][2], from *क्षुट् (kṣuṭ, to release, root).
