Etymology
From a variant of Aramaic זְוַּע (zəwaʿ), argued to be dissimilated from its Ithpalpal form אִתְזִיעַ (ʾiṯəzīʿa); compare similar Classical Syriac ܡܸܙܕܲܥܙܥܵܢܵܐ (mezdaʿz(ə)ʿānā, “moveable”) and ܙܵܘܹܥ (zāwēʿ, “to move”), also Turoyo ܙܳܝܰܥ (zōyaʿ, “to fear”).
