Learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܚܕܥܣܪܐ (ḥḏaʿesrē). Equivalent to ܚܕܵܐ (ḥdā, “one”) + ܥܸܣܲܪ (ʿisar, “ten”); compare Arabic إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ (ʔiḥdā ʕašrata) and Hebrew אַחַת עֶשְׂרֵה (akhát 'esré).
