Learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܚܕܥܣܪܐ (ḥḏaʿesrē). Equivalent to ܚܕܵܐ (ḥdā, one) + ܥܸܣܲܪ (ʿisar, ten); compare Arabic إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ (ʔiḥdā ʕašrata) and Hebrew אַחַת עֶשְׂרֵה (akhát 'esré).
