From a metathesis of Aramaic קליִדָא (qlīḏāʾ), from Ancient Greek κλεῖδα (kleîda); also borrowed into Arabic إِقْلِيد (ʔiqlīd), Hebrew קְלִיד (k'lid) and Persian کلید (kelid).
