From Aramaic ܩܲܡܝܼܨܬܵܐ (qamīṣtāʾ), from Byzantine Greek καμίσιον (kamísion)[1], from Late Latin camisia, from Proto-Germanic *hamiþiją (clothes, shirt, skirt). Compare Turoyo ܩܡܣܬܐ (qmĕstoʾ) and Arabic قميص (qamīṣ).
