Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘖𑘲𑘕𑘜𑘹 (jhījaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀛𑀺𑀚𑁆𑀚𑀇 (jhijjaï). Related to झीज (jhīj, “wear and tear, loss”).
