Inherited from Prakrit *𑀛𑀽𑀝𑁆𑀞 (*jhūṭṭha). Cognate with Gujarati જુઠું (juṭhũ), Punjabi ਝੂਠ (jhūṭh), Bengali ঝুঁঠ (jhũṭh) and Oriya ଝୁଠ (jhuṭhô).
