Borrowed from Persian باریک (bârik), from Middle Persian [script needed] (bʾlyk /bārīk/, /bārīg/). Compare Punjabi ਬਰੀਕ (barīk) / بَرِیک (barīk), Gujarati બારીક (bārīk), Marathi बारीक (bārīk), Sylheti ꠛꠣꠞꠤꠇ (barik).
