Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit [Term?] (compare Maharastri Prakrit 𑀫𑀁𑀢 (maṃta)), an extension of Sanskrit मा (), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *, from Proto-Indo-European *meh₁. Cognate to Punjabi ਮਤ (mat).
