Etymology

Borrowed from Japanese 蓮の花 (hasu no hana, lotus flower), from (hasu, lotus) + (no) + (hana, flower). Alternatively from হাসনা (haśona) + হেনা (hena, henna), the former being from either Arabic حَسْنَاء (ḥasnāʔ, beauty, extremely beautiful) or حَسَنَة (ḥasana, good deed, beautiful) and the latter from Arabic حِنَّاء (ḥinnāʔ, henna).
