Etymology

From Middle Persian [script needed] (gwzynk' /gōzēnag/, a walnut sweetmeat) (whence Persian گوزینه (gôzina), Arabicized جوزینه (jawzina)), from [script needed] (gwc /gōz/, walnut) (whence Persian گوز (gôz)) + [script needed] (-ynk' /-ēnag/). Akin to Khwarezmian [script needed] (kwzynyk), Arabic جَوْزِينَج (jawzīnaj), جَوْزِينَق (jawzīnaq).
