1. A siglum used for abbreviations, mainly in medieval and early modern documents.

ꝫ (lower case, upper case Ꝫ) (Medieval Latin, siglum)

1. (word-final) Scribal abbreviation of ⟨et⟩ as -et.

   habꝫ → habet

2. (word-final) Scribal abbreviation of ⟨est⟩ as -est.

   potꝫ → potest

3. (word-final) Scribal abbreviation of ⟨ue⟩ as part of -que.

   usqꝫ → usque

4. (word-final) Scribal abbreviation of ⟨us⟩ as -us when at the end of a noun in the dative or ablative plural.

   aͥquibꝫ → aliquibus

5. (word-final) Scribal abbreviation of ⟨m⟩ as part of -am, -em or -um.

   abluͦneꝫ → ablutionem

6. A word-final mark of abbreviation for some sequence of letters ending in one of the above forms.

   viꝫ → videlicet; quiꝯꝫ → quicumque; opīoꝫ → opinionem

Although used as an abbreviation for the word-parts ⟨et⟩ or ⟨est⟩, ꝫ is never used in isolation as an abbreviation for the words et or est.
