Etymology

From 𐫍𐫀𐫖-‎ (hʾm-, “con-, together”) +‎ 𐫍𐫏𐫡𐫉𐫏𐫅‎ (hyrzyd, “to let, leave, abandon”)[1], from Proto-Indo-Iranian *sr̥ȷ́áti. Compare Old Armenian համհարզ (hamharz, “adjutant”), an Iranian borrowing.[2]
