Etymology
Perhaps an ancient Mesopotamian Wanderwort. Some scholars have seen this word as part of the Euphratic substrate hypothesis, which connects it to Proto-Indo-European *hโรฉวตros (โfieldโ). Compare also Akkadian ๐๐ผ (ugฤrum) and Ugaritic ๐๐๐ (แปงgr).
Descendants
- โ? Akkadian: ๐๐ผ (ugฤrum) (the direction of the borrowing might be the opposite)
