From àba (“father”) + Ọ̀rị̀ṣà (“Orisa (supreme sky deity)”), literally “Father Orisha”, this perhaps suggest that the term "orisha" may originally come for a root for sky, compare with similar non-African terms like Jupiter or Zeus, sky deities in Greek and Roman religion who's name mean "Sky father."
