Abarịṣa

Yoruba

Etymology

From àba (father) + Ọ̀rị̀ṣà (Orisa (supreme sky deity)), literally Father Orisha, this perhaps suggest that the term "orisha" may originally come for a root for sky, compare with similar non-African terms like Jupiter or Zeus, sky deities in Greek and Roman religion who's name mean "Sky father."
