By renewed adaption to Beere from earlier and still dialectal Himper, by assimilation (as in Wimper) from Middle High German hintber, from Old High German hintberi, from Proto-West Germanic *hindibaʀi. Equivalent to Hinde (“hind, doe”) + Beere (“berry”)
