Presumably borrowed from either Old Median *vahištah[1] or Avestan 𐬬𐬀𐬵𐬌𐬱𐬙𐬀 (vahišta), both from Proto-Iranian *Hwáhištah, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hwásištʰas.
