      A number of villages have been given a new lease of life. In the former Hakka village of Sheung Yiu in Sai Kung, the biggest house has been turned into a museum. Originally from mainland China, many Hakkas moved to Hong Kong in the 17th century, where they established fishing and farming villages, mostly in the New Territories.
