From Arabic اَلْمَجِسْطِيّ‎ (al-majisṭiyy, “almagest”), with اَل‎ (al-) being the Arabic definite article, from Middle Persian 𐭬𐭢𐭮𐭲𐭩𐭪‎ (mgstyk /magestīg/)[[Category:|ALMAGEST]], from Ancient Greek μεγίστη (megístē, “greatest”).
