Inherited from Ottoman Turkish بالذات (biẕẕat),[1][2] from Arabic بِالذَّات (bi-ḏ-ḏāt), from بِـ (bi-) + اَلْ (al-) + ذَات (ḏāt),[3] equivalent to biz- + zat (“person”).
