Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *daknā, from Proto-Indo-European *denḱ- (to bite). Cognate to Ancient Greek δάκνω (dáknō, to bite) and Old High German zanga (tongs). Gheg formation danë with secondarily rhotacized nasal.[1]
