From a corruption (as if < eat +‎ -age) of edige, eddish. More at eddish.

Noun

eatage (countable and uncountable, plural eatages)

  1. Edible growth of grass for horses and cattle, especially that of aftermath.
  2. The right to let one's animals eat in a certain place; pasturage.
