engadir

From the older *enhadir (with <nh> /ŋ/),[1] from Old Galician-Portuguese ẽadir (13th century, Cantigas de Santa Maria), from Vulgar Latin *innaddere, from - in- (“in”) +‎ addēre (“to add”), from Latin addēre, present active infinitive of addō. Cognate to Spanish añadir and to Old Portuguese (proper) emadir.[2]
