From Proto-Albanian *a-tšilna[1] or *a-čila-[2], a compound equivalent to a privative e- (from *a-, from Proto-Indo-European *n̥-) + sillë (breakfast). Interpretible as e- + sille (breakfast) A similar formation to egjëll.[3]
