fraction bar (plural fraction bars)

1. (typography, mathematics) The line separating the numerator from the denominator, whether horizontal, (sometimes proscribed) oblique, or diagonal.

     The fraction bar is a kerned character, so unlike the solidus it will not push the numerals away a full em space.
