Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *spurtˢa, from Proto-Indo-European *spr̥ḱ- (compare Latin spurcus (“dirty”), Sanskrit पृश्नि (pṛśni, “speckled”)). Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *awa-ruđa, which would have produced a theoretical *vruth, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁rewdʰ- (“red”) (compare pruth)[1].
