Variant of dialectal glep, from Proto-Albanian *glēpa, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷl̥H-bʰo-, derivative of *gʷelH- (“to prick, stick”) (compare Lithuanian geluonìs (“sting”), Greek βελόνα (velóna, “needle”)).[1]
