Akin to Old Turkic [script needed] (yigren-, to be disgusted, abhor), maybe from Old Turkic [script needed] (yīg, raw, uncooked (meat))[1], from Proto-Turkic *yigre- (to hate, abhor)[2]. See çiğ.
