kaabakas

Estonian

Etymology

Most likely derived from kaapima, which in dialects had the meaning "to run away". The meaning of escapee is therefore the older one, which then evolved into "a person with no honour", "a criminal".

Noun

kaabakas (genitive kaabaka, partitive kaabakat)

  1. scumbag, bastard
  2. (dialectal) escapee
