kungull
Albanian
Etymology
Possibly a devoiced variant of gungë + -ull, from Proto-Indo-European *geng-, *gong- (“lump”). Close to Lithuanian gungulỹs (“ball”), Old Norse kǫngull (“bundle of berries”), Ancient Greek γογγύλος (gongúlos, “round”), Latin conucla (“staff for holding flax, wool, etc.”). Alternatively from Proto-Albanian *kunkula, similar to Lithuanian kunkulas (“bubble”).
