Etymology
Gerund of an unattested *kushtroj; *kushtroj + -im, borrowed from Vulgar Latin *conscrīptāre, a secondary formation based on conscrībere (“to enroll, enlist”).[1] Alternatively, a contraction of kush â trim (who is brave?), the traditional call when some danger presented itself.[2][3]
