  1. (informal, idiomatic, derogatory, Canada, US) A male who has a very close bond with his mother, and may consequently be perceived as soft or effeminate.
    He's such a mama's boy that he can't even ask a girl out for a date without his mother's approval.

Usage notes

  • While mama's boy and mummy's boy are both recognized in many English dictionaries, the latter is considered chiefly British and the former is sometimes considered North American. Other alternative forms are considerably rarer by comparison and are often absent from dictionaries.
