• pam- -an (before root initials /b/ and /p/, will sometimes remove initial /b/ and /p/)
• pan- -an (before root initials /d/, /s/ and /t/, will sometimes remove initial /d/, /s/ and /t/)
• pang- -han (for roots ending in vowels, not followed by glottal stops)

pang- -an

1. (Instrumentative circumfix) Used to form nouns indicating a place or concept where the action expressed by the root is performed

   ‎pang- -an + ‎bili (“purchase”) → ‎pamilihan (“market”)

   ‎pang- -an + ‎puno (“leader”) → ‎pamunuan (“administration”)

   ‎pang- -an + ‎tunton (“guidance”) → ‎panuntunan (“guideline”)

2. (Adjectival circumfix) Used to form adjectives indicating the root is intended for

   ‎pang- -an + ‎dalawa (“two”) → ‎pangdalawahan (“for two”)

   ‎pang- -an + ‎matagal (“long (of a period of time)”) → ‎pangmatagalan (“for long-term”)

• Normally, /h/ is inserted before -an when the root word ends with a vowel that is not followed by a glottal stop.
