Old Polish
Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Slavic *potьběga. Possibly a compound of otherwise unattested *potь (“husband”) (from Proto-Indo-European *pótis (“master, husband”)) and *běga from *běgati (“to run away, flee”). Cognate with Russian подпега (podpega) and Czech podběha.
