From Proto-Albanian *rap-, from Proto-Indo-European *r(e)Hp-, *rā̆p- (“radish, rape”). Cognate to Ancient Greek ῥάπυς (rhápus, “cabbage, radish”), and dialects of Southern Italy.[1]
